We fund the same organisations, year after year, without conditions.
Jessbyte Foundation makes small, predictable, no-strings grants to Australian charities — most of them working with LGBTIQ+ communities. We don't run programs, we don't fundraise, and we don't ask our grantees to report back.
What we fund
Five financial years of giving, by area of work. Figures are cumulative to 30 June 2026.
Two thirds of our giving goes to LGBTIQ+ organisations.
We didn't set out with a quota. It's simply where the organisations we trust most are doing the work — often under-resourced, often serving people other funders find inconvenient.
How we give
The model matters more than the amounts. Four commitments we hold to.
Small, boring, and the same every year.
Most philanthropy asks organisations to spend scarce capacity applying, acquitting and reporting. We think that's backwards for grants this size, so we've built the opposite.
01We stay
Twenty-one of the twenty-seven organisations we've funded have been funded more than once. Five have been supported every single year since 2022. When we start, we intend to keep going.
02We keep it small
The median grant is $1,500, and four in five fall between $1,000 and $3,000. Small amounts delivered reliably are worth more than large amounts delivered once.
03No strings
Grants are unrestricted. Spend them on rent, wages, or whatever the actual emergency is this month. We don't require acquittal reports.
04Low overhead
Of $34,548 spent in 2024–25, $31,860 went straight out as grants. We keep administration deliberately close to nothing.
From 2026–27 our annual giving will increase substantially.
What we don't do
We can't accept unsolicited applications. There's no form and no funding round. We fund a small group of organisations we already know, chosen by the Board, and we'd rather say so plainly than let anyone spend an afternoon writing to us.
We don't run programs of our own, we don't fundraise from the public, and we don't ask grantees for anything beyond what the tax rules require of them.

The Foundation is overseen by the Board of Directors of its corporate trustee, Jessbyte Pty Ltd.
